A successful move needs an agreed conversion date, reliable opening balances and a plan for outstanding invoices, bills, payroll and historical records. The existing file should be reviewed before migration.
What this means in practice
Decide how much history must be moved and which records can be retained separately. Reconcile bank balances, receivables, payables and payroll balances at the cutoff. Test key reports after the move and confirm user access. A new system does not automatically fix errors that existed in the old file.
Your next steps
- Choose a conversion date
- Reconcile opening balances
- Plan payroll and invoice migration
- Compare reports before going live
